Ethan is excited to be coming to Upper Mississippi Academy after teaching English at a large, suburban high school for three years. The school’s focus on experiential and project-based learning was a big draw, and he is looking forward to getting to know the school and its community.

Ethan received his B.A. in Japanese at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and he returned to get his M.A. in East Asian Literature and Culture. After living in Vancouver for five years, he moved back to Minnesota with his family and got his English teaching license from the University of Minnesota. It seems only fitting that after a mere 13.5 years of college, Ethan finds himself back in the classroom.

When he is not teaching, Ethan loves spending time with his family, going for hikes, swimming, reading, and exploring new places and experiences.
