Current Employment Opportunities

Physical Education/Health Teacher – 1.0 FTE

We are currently seeking a Physical Education/Health teacher who is passionate about teaching non-traditional movement and health classes of their own design. This position will focus on grades 7-8 and will require an original thinker to teach outside the box (or the gym). We prefer candidates who can go beyond the typical gymnasium-based activities to make real-world connections and take advantage of the outdoors and community resources. The perfect candidate thrives in an environment where they are allowed, encouraged, and expected to design their curriculum both independently and collaboratively. 

The ideal candidate will bring their knowledge of Minnesota and the Twin Cities to create, develop, and maintain community partnerships that will bring community members into the classroom and bring students into the community. 

Duties and Qualifications:  

  • Valid Minnesota Physical Education Teaching License (preferred Health licensure)
  •   Design and lead physical activities for students that encourage healthy lifestyles
  • Prepare standards-aware lessons and conduct daily classroom instruction in Physical Education at an appropriate instructional level for grades 6-8.
  • Incorporate hands-on, experiential and real-world experiences that students can relate to classroom content.

Secondary Special Education Teacher – 1.0 FTE

You should be excited about being part of a collaborative team to ensure that students succeed in progressing through the general education curriculum. Our team works with all teachers, via a push-in model, to create differentiated learning experiences in the general education setting to the greatest extent possible. We want to add individuals to our team who are flexible, creative, and adaptable to multiple student learning styles and environments.

Duties and Qualifications:

● Valid Minnesota Teaching License with Special Education endorsement in any field, candidates in process of completing special education coursework also considered.

● Prepare standards-aware lessons and conduct daily classroom instruction in pull out academic classes at an appropriate instructional level for students assigned.

● Incorporate hands-on, experiential and real-world experiences that students can relate to classroom content.

● Work with colleagues to creatively design, modify or adapt lessons and cross-curricular projects that can offer experiences to a variety of learners.

● Complete due process including IEPs, evaluations and progress reports within expected time frames.

Secondary Special Education Paraprofessional – 1.0 FTE

We are currently seeking a secondary special education paraprofessional who is passionate about being part of a collaborative team to ensure that students succeed in a general education curriculum. Our team works with all teachers, via a push-in model, to create differentiated learning experiences in the general education setting to the greatest extent possible. We want to add individuals to our team who are flexible, creative, and adaptable to multiple student learning styles and environments.  Appreciation of excessive silliness a plus.

Duties and Qualifications:

  • At least two years post-secondary training
  • Desired – a minimum of one year previous experience with students with special needs
  • Knowledge of or prior experience with learning and positive behavior management techniques
  • Tutoring experience a plus
  • Support and monitor students in various learning environments and locations
  • Accompany students on field trips and community day outings
  • Work with students’ case manager and the Director of Special Education to implement the Individualized Education Programs
  • Maintain student confidentiality
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Collect data
  • Other duties as assigned by staff

Physical Requirements

  • Bending, stooping and kneeling while working with students 
  • Involves extended periods of time on feet in classrooms, outside on play area & bus loading area
  • Involves occasionally lifting up to 40 lbs  
  • Involves potential of physical restraining of students
