Family & Consumer Science (FACS) Teacher SY23 – 1.0 FTE

We are currently seeking a Family & Consumer Science (FACS) teacher who is passionate about hands-on teaching and learning and is a lifelong learner.

This position includes creating inquiry-based classes of mixed grades levels that explore and create in the fields of culinary and textile content. We seek innovative candidates who find excitement in designing and conducting hands-on activities, student work/project showcases, and bringing their personal life experience to their classroom.  The ideal candidate will bring their knowledge of Minnesota and the Twin Cities to create, develop, and maintain community partnerships that will bring community members into the classroom and bring students into the community.

Duties and Qualifications:  

  • Valid Minnesota Family & Consumer Science Teaching License
  • Prepare standards-aware lessons and conduct daily classroom instruction in culinary and textile education at an appropriate instructional level for 6 – 12.
  • Incorporate hands-on, experiential and real-world experiences that students can relate to classroom content.
  • Work with colleagues to create cross-curricular lessons and projects.
  • Creatively design lessons that can offer quality experiences to all learners.
  • Use the evidence of the learning and assessment cycle to facilitate student progress and improvement and regularly report progress to households and families.
  • Maintain accurate data for goal setting and record keeping.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations to supplement and enhance student learning.
  • Guide students in the creation of a respectful, non-bias school culture.
  • Seek to expand working opportunities with colleagues.
  • Accompany students on field trips, plan activities for Community Days, and participate in clubs and after school events.
  • Create and maintain an online presence and accountability for classes taught.

We are currently seeking a Middle School Social Studies teacher who is passionate about hands-on teaching and learning and is a lifelong learner. This position includes teaching inquiry-based classes of grade-level social studies and one possible elective. We seek innovative candidates who find excitement in designing and conducting hands-on activities, student work/project showcases, and bringing their personal life experience to their classroom.We prefer candidates with middle school experience in designing inquiry-based activities including simulations, debate, public speaking, technology integration and utilizing outdoor and community resources. Additionally the ideal candidate will bring their knowledge of Minnesota and the Twin Cities to create, develop, and maintain community partnerships that will bring community members into the classroom and bring students into the community.

Special Education Paraprofessional – 1.0 FTE

We are currently seeking a secondary special education paraprofessional who is passionate about being part of a collaborative team to ensure that students succeed in a general education curriculum. Our team works with all teachers, via a push-in mode, to create differentiated learning experiences in the general education setting to the greatest extent possible. We want to add individuals to our team who are flexible, creative, and adaptable to multiple student learning styles and environments.  Appreciation of growth mindset, laughter and diverse viewpoints. 

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

Education

  • A high school diploma or GED and one or more of the following:
    • Knowledge of or prior experience with learning and positive behavior management techniques
    • Minimum of one year previous experience with students with special needs
    • Passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment.  (For more information on the ParaPro Assessment, contact Educational Testing Service at 1-800-772-9476 or www.ets.org/parapro
    • Two years of post-secondary coursework (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) from an accredited institution of higher education which are applicable toward a bachelors degree, or
    • An AA, AS, AAS (or higher) degree, or
  • Tutoring experience a plus
  • Support and monitor students in various learning/academic environments and locations
  • Work with students’ case manager and the Director of Special Education to implement the Individualized Education Programs
  • Maintain student confidentiality
  • Participate in team planning meetings as appropriate
  • Collect data
  • Other duties as assigned by staff
