Upper Mississippi Academy has established an Indigenous People Advisory Committee. The committee will serve in an advisory role and help ensure that Native American, Alaskan Native, and First Nations students are receiving culturally relevant and equitable educational opportunities at Upper Mississippi Academy. Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.78, subdivision 1 states that a school district in which there are 10 or more American Indian students enrolled and each American Indian school must establish an American Indian education parent advisory committee, you can learn more on the Minnesota Department of Education’s website.

Upper Mississippi Academy students who identify as Native American, Alaskan Native and/or First Nations, their family members and community members are invited to participate in the Indigenous People Advisory Committee.
