Kathy was born, raised, and still lives in the West 7th neighborhood of Saint Paul. She graduated from the College of St. Catherine with a B.A. in Elementary Education and taught in 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades, Physical Education, and substituted for grades K-8. Kathy was also the coach for softball and volleyball teams. After years of teaching she stayed home to be with her children. She homeschooled her daughter for several years and then returned to the classroom as a paraprofessional in a K-12 charter school art program. As a life-long educator, she is happy to be a part of the UMA staff. This will be her 9th year at UMA.

Kathy enjoys spending time outside, doing projects, working in the garden, and playing all sorts of games. She, her two children, and the rest of her family have lots of fun together and especially enjoy spending time at the cabin they share.
