Kathy was born, raised, and still lives right here in the West 7th neighborhood along with her two children. Her parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, nieces, nephews, and children all attended St. Francis de Sales School–the campus that UMA now occupies. She graduated from the College of St Catherine with a B.A. in Elementary Education and taught in 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades, Physical Education, and substituted for grades K-8. Kathy was also the coach for softball and volleyball teams. After 13 years in the classroom (the last two in this building), Kathy homeschooled her daughter for several years and returned to the classroom as a paraprofessional in a K-12 charter school art program. As a life-long educator, she is happy to be a part of the UMA staff.
Kathy enjoys spending time outside, doing projects, being with her dog, Rudy, working in the garden, and playing all sorts of games. She, her two children, and the rest of her family have lots of fun together and especially enjoy spending time at the cabin they share.
