Karen Hartman

Special Education Teacher (7th Grade)

Karen is excited to be joining UMA this year as a 7th grade Special Education Teacher! She comes to UMA with a variety of experience in education. Born and raised in upstate NY, Karen headed to Bowling Green State University in Ohio where she graduated with a BS in Special Education. She then headed west to California where she taught in non-public school environments. After moving to Minnesota, a place she now calls home and raising her 3 boys, Karen jumped back into teaching in both charter and public school settings.

Karen currently lives in Falcon Heights with her husband, Chris. She and her husband enjoy traveling and continue to find themselves cheering on their sons in their athletic endeavors. Although they are mostly empty nesters, Karen and Chris enjoy when everyone is home for a family dinner and game night. In her free time, Karen enjoys gardening, knitting, puzzles, cooking, swimming, and yoga.
