Josh is excited to be joining UMA this year as the Physical Education and Health teacher! This is Josh’s first year at UMA and he is excited to become a part of the community. Josh has always had a passion for working with youth on being active and has done this through a variety of opportunities. These opportunities included coaching softball, coaching baseball, and working at a summer camp which he led youth on fun new ways to be active. He was born, and still lives, in Blaine MN. He attended college at Bethel University where he graduated with a B.A in Physical Education, Health Education, and a D.A.P.E certificate.
As a teacher, Josh works towards finding new ways for all students to be active in ways that interest them and they enjoy. Josh’s goal for all students is to become active outside of the classroom and become lifelong active individuals. In the Health classroom, Josh finds creative ways to help students learn the material and interact with the material. He focuses on having a student centered approach where students feel safe to ask some of the difficult health questions.
When Josh is not teaching he enjoys watching baseball and participating in baseball leagues with his friends. Josh is also a huge fan of Liverpool FC and the Minnesota Twins. On rainy days one of Josh’s favorite pastimes is watching movies. With his favorite movie being Baby Driver or The Dark Knight. He also is a huge DC comic fan and would love to explain why DC comics are better than Marvel comics. If you ever want to talk about sports, comics, or movies he would love to stop and talk.
