My name is Desiree Chavez and I have been working in schools for almost 20 years. I have
held a variety of positions over the years, starting out as a paraprofessional, then a substitute
teacher and currently a Special Education Teacher. I am Mexican American, born and raised here in St. Paul and am a graduate of St. Paul Public Schools. My family consists of my wonderful partner Corey and a daughter and son who are both involved in sports and attend Highland Park HS.
We love to travel and one of my parental goals is to make sure my kids see all 50 states before they turn 18, we now have 24 more states to go. Our latest adventure was to Hawaii where we swam with sharks and kayaked to a remote island an hour and a half away from Oahu. Let me tell you I have a new respect for Kayakers.
“ Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
